Heatcraft Worldwide Refrigeration is a long-standing leader in the world of commercial refrigeration, providing climate-control solutions to customers in more than 70 countries. Their state-of-the-art manufacturing facilities in the cities of Stone Mountain, Columbus and Tifton, Georgia, produce evaporators, condensers, compressor racks, merchandise display cases and other top-quality refrigeration products for their six market-leading brands: Bohn, Larkin, Climate Control, Chandler, and InterLink. Heatcraft products are primarily used to preserve food and other perishables in supermarkets, convenience stores, restaurants, warehouses and distribution centers, in addition to other applications such as data centers, pharmaceutical and industrial process cooling.

Job Description

As the Sr. Mechanical Engineer- Product Development, you will be responsible for new product development (NPD) projects as part of the Heatcraft NPD engineering team. This role may additionally support VAVE, sustaining engineering and design corrective action projects. The ideal candidate shall have engineering product design experience, preferably in the HVAC/R industry.


  • Work on NPD projects in cross-functional teams as engineering lead and/or project leader.

  • Managing multiple projects including schedule and goal management in addition to engineering tasks.

  • Optimize product designs for performance, reliability, cost and manufacturability.

  • Direct CAD designers in creation and modification of sheet metal components, heat exchanger assemblies and air moving assemblies.

  • Navigate SAP business system to identify product changes and plan data entry work.

  • Create plans and initiate requests for the laboratory testing of product designs. Interpret test results.

  • Document best practices for use by peers.



  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering.

  • At least 8 years of work experience with degree, including a minimum of 4 years’ experience in engineering product design.

  • Experience working as part of a team in a team environment.

  • Self-starter with the ability to remain focused on project goals.

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.

  • The ability to prioritize and work on several projects at the same time.

  • Proven project management skills.

  • Experience with refrigeration or air conditioning design and operation.

  • Six Sigma training a plus.

  • Manufacturing / Industrial engineering experience a plus.

  • Experience with SAP business system a plus.
