Job Description

Under general direction, responsible for leading and managing the dynamics of cross-functional process improvement projects and business-wide improvement initiatives.

Identifies, suggests, and implements best practices to facilitate best solutions and methods that will optimize processes in all areas of the business. Works with main clients and project and business leaders to identify the gap between current and desired results. Analyzes current processes and designs improvements. Leads cross-functional teams to project completion and project implementation. Employs Six Sigma or a related methodology and analytics into organizational operations in order to accomplish business objectives. Works with Senior level management to integrate the Six Sigma or a related approach into the company’s business strategy. Projects often include business suppliers and customers to fully integrate the Six Sigma methodology into the entire product value stream.

This individual will be responsible for analyzing the product line spend and coordination involved in scheduling events associated with VAVE at Lennox manufacturing sites and/or supplier manufacturing sites to drive material cost reductions. Works with multiple disciplines across various business units and facilitates event(s). Ensure that all ideas from idea generation sessions are captured and vetted and follows up to ensure all ideas are input into SAP. Assist business unit with prioritizes for resource assignments according to value for the organization as well as continuous focus on building a strong pipeline of projects for future implementation. The VAVE Sourcing individual will be measured on driving and managing cost reduction projects and successfully implementing projects across all three business units as well as strength of pipeline. May be required to program manage certain high priority / significant projects to completion. Position is fast-paced and requires attention to detail.


  • Conduct pre-analysis on potential VAVE events. (5%)

  • Coordinate/schedule and facilitate VAVE events at Lennox manufacturing facilities or Supplier manufacturing sites with local Supply Chain Leadership, Strategic Sourcing Managers, Engineering, Local Operations, Quality, and Sales and Marketing to identify cost out opportunities in either materials or processes. This will include, but is not limited to, internal VAVE events, Supplier Walk-thru events, and Competitive Teardown events. (40%)

  • Facilitate meeting(s) or teardown events to effectively capture cost reduction savings opportunities or process improvements and analyzes the impact to the businesses. (20%)

  • Ensure strong cross functional engagement and facilitate team accountability. (5%)

  • Collaborate with BU in establishing material cost reduction savings analysis and ensure financial review as well as assisting with establishing initial schedules for project implementation. (10%)

  • Demonstrate utilization of continuous improvement process (metrics, root cause analysis, risk assessment/mitigation, etc.) to drive positive performance trends for both internal and external teams.(10%)

  • Track material cost reduction status of all assigned projects for progress, schedule and performance. (5%)

  • Prepare monthly summary report as required by management and program management. (5%)

  • Facilitate product related standardization ideas to global standards as applicable. (as required)

  • Acts as interim program manager (as required) for projects which require strong cross functional engagements until resources are assigned.(as required)


  • Requires a bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Requires at least 8 years related experience. Six Sigma Black Belt or equivalent preferred.

  • Must have expertise with a broad toolbox of statistical skills for modeling and prediction.

  • Requires broad understanding of process best practices and barriers to implementation.

  • Demonstrates strong financial acumen and understanding of the value chain.

  • Requires very strong data and business information skills including Excel, Access, SQL database and related skills.

  • Must have strong customer service and relational skills.

  • Requires excellent verbal and written communication skills.

  • Must be able to lead and motivate cross-functional project teams.

  • Good understanding of VAVE principles and methodology and has passion for reducing costs thru continuous improvement.

  • Ability to influence and drive various Lennox business functions for action (ex: marketing, engineering, program management, demand-planning, sourcing and local purchasing, Lennox Asia Sourcing and Engineering Center, Lennox India Technology Center, and Lennox business unit executives).

  • 5 yrs. of experience working knowledge of material cost reductions & continuous improvement.

  • Analytical rigor with complex sets of data.

  • Ability/willingness to travel up to 50-60% of the time domestically and internationally.
